First time cruise booking tips

Have you ever thought about the idea that the oldest view in the world is the view of the ocean?
For millions and millions of years this view is untouched and unique.

That's why cruising and being at sea is fantastic and a unique experience. Whether you're cruising with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess or Holland America Line, all companies try to offer you their best product.

There are a couple of things I would like to tell you just to prevent you get disappointed on board.

1 Check the location of your cabin.
Cruise ships have a lot of fire screen doors to prevent smoke travelling through the corridors in case of fire. Some are always open and can be closed automatically. But some are always closed and need to be opened when you pass through. A lot of these doors are slamming. Make sure your cabin is in the middle of the corridor and check the location.

2 Check the cruise schedule also known as the Itinerary.
It always looks fantastic when a ship sails into a lot of different ports in a short period of time. But you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure things out.
Just by looking at the chart either you need a hell of a speed or you will be visiting the port very shortly. Most of the time it is the latter. Cruise companies try to save a lot of money just by reducing speed as much as possible so be aware and ask your cruise consultant for more details.

3 Learn a little bit more about the maritime world

Try to imagine how life was in the old days.
How the safety improved in all those years. Think about the Titanic for example. Well I can assure you this; a lot of things have changed since 1912.
Find out some info about the ship you are sailing on. What is the average consumption of a cruise liner? Or is the ship you are cruising on the biggest in the world. Which ship is the biggest or the fastest?
Which pirates sailed in the Caribbean?

Most of the people you meet during your cruise are interested in the maritime world or have been working at sea in the previous years.

Visit Shipslife.com and get some info and facts to have something to talk about with other passengers during dinner for example. But most importantly enjoy your cruise and enjoy your shipslife.
